Voortrekkers
The Voortrekkers is a youth organization in South Africa dedicated to instilling values of self-reliance, survival skills, and a deep connection to nature. The Youth participate in various activities that promote leadership, outdoor skills, and community service, preparing them to face challenges with confidence and resourcefulness.

On the 24th of June, 2024, the first group of Voortrekkers joined the Rangers at Vegkop for a day of education and hands-on experience. Head Ranger Erich and Ranger Ethan welcomed the group with an informative session on ocean survival techniques, sharing their expertise on thriving in coastal environments. After the briefing, the Voortrekkers embarked on a scavenging mission to gather their dinner. With the guidance of the Rangers, they searched for mussels along the rocks during low tide, learning practical skills in sourcing food from the ocean. This activity enhanced their survival knowledge and fostered a sense of self-sufficiency.
Following their successful hunt for mussels, the Voortrekkers and Rangers dedicated their efforts to a beach cleanup. Their collaborative work resulted in a notably effective cleanup, reflecting their commitment to preserving the coastline’s natural beauty. Through activities like these, the Voortrekkers continue to build essential life skills while contributing positively to the community and the environment.

On the 26th of June, 2024, the second group of Voortrekkers joined the Rangers at Kanon for a day of education. The Rangers focused on essential survival techniques involving the local vegetation. The session began with an informative briefing where Erich and Ethan shared their extensive knowledge on identifying and utilizing the surrounding plant life for survival. They covered crucial topics such as edible plants, medicinal uses of various flora, and methods to source water from vegetation.

School Nature Walks
FMH is the ideal Coastal Community project to visit for a school day outing. With the Guidance of our Conservation Rangers School Groups can enjoy an Educational Adventure. A Guided Fynbos Hike To the Coastal Dunes of FMH following a 4 km Hike along the Coast to Fransmanshoek Peninsula.
Learners will be introduced to different elements of the Fynbos Kingdom and Learn all about the Natural Resources for Survival.
Beach Cleanup Days
Join the FMH Rangers for a Beach Cleanup Day. A fun day for the Community and or School Groups to help clean our coast. Data collection is also very important and with the annual Coordinated Beach Cleanup Day we help clean and collect valuable data.
Alien Clearing Day
Join the FMH Rangers for an Alien Clearing Day. A bit of hard work to help keep the spread of Alien Invasive species from spreading. Various Blocks are being monitored and require follow-up clearing. Come, volunteer.
