Wildlife at Fransmanshoek
The Fransmanshoek Conservancy is a thriving haven for coastal wildlife, thanks to over two decades of dedicated habitat protection and dune stabilisation.
🐾 Mammals & Antelope
Our healthy ecosystems support a rich variety of small mammals. Walk our trails and you will likely spot signs of active wildlife, from tracks to burrows.
- Land Mammals: Common Duiker, Cape Grysbok, and Bushbuck thrive here, finding excellent food and shelter in both our native veld and woody thickets.
- Marine Life: Whales and dolphins are spotted almost daily! Our coastline offers premier vantage points for watching migratory Humpback and Southern Right whales during whaling season.
🐸 Reptiles & Amphibians
From coastal frogs to sun-loving lizards, our diverse micro-habitats host an array of unique reptiles and amphibians perfectly adapted to this coastal environment.
🪶 Birdwatching
Fransmanshoek is a bird watcher’s paradise, boasting 169 officially recorded bird species soaring through our skies and nesting along our shores.
